Latest News

Spring is trying to break here at the nursery, but we're still having some hard frosts and very cold days.

Many of the spring bulbs are starting to grow and shoots are appearing on Erythroniums. Cyclamen coum have been flowering for weeks and still look stunning, even in the hardest of frosts.

We start our show season in a few weeks at the joint Alpine Garden Society & Scottish Rock Garden show in Kendal on 12th March and we have lots of spring flowering plants for sale, including Trilliums, Erythroniums,Anemones and Primulas.

We can take plants to any of the shows we attend, just contact us a week before the start date of the show and we'll bring them along, saving you postage costs. Details of all the shows we are attending this year are listed under 'Events'.

The Nursery opens again for the new season on 3rd March, we open every Thursday and Friday 10am to 4pm until end of October.

Harperley Hall Farm Nurseries, based in the North East, just outside Durham; is an award winning specialist plant Nursery. We sell a wide range of rare and specialist, specimen plants to both the public and wholesale.

We grow specimen plants, trees and bamboo. Harperley Hall Farm Nurseries specialise in alpines, woodland plants, bog plants and more unusual perennials, including Anemone, Rhodohypoxis and some unusual Primula. We have, literally, thousands of plants at the nursery. We haven’t got them all on the website. So, if you’re looking for something really unusual and it’s not on the website, the chances are we’ll have it. Do get in touch and, if we can help, we will.

We’re very pleased to be a Royal Horticultural Society and Alpine Garden Society recommended nursery and welcome members from both organisations.

We are always pleased to meet our customers at any of the events we attend, where we can offer you expert advice and you can be sure we’ll have some interesting plants with us! Plants can be ordered and collected from shows, saving you delivery costs. Please place your order at least seven days prior to the start of the show and we’ll bring your plants with us. You’re also welcome to visit the Nursery, by appointment, or come along to one of our Open Days.

If you are in the horticultural trade we also offer a wholesale service, please contact us for more details.
